Discuss the scope, existing conditions, priorities and the next information needed. Confirm whether a site visit or additional planning is appropriate.

Your initial consultation and on-site estimate are free. Ask about availability, what the written estimate will include and whether any separate design work would be needed.

03. Get the details in writing.

Before work is agreed, review the included scope, material selections, allowances, exclusions, payment terms and anticipated schedule. Confirm who handles permits, required specialists and approvals.

Ask how changes and unexpected conditions will be documented. Any warranty terms should be clear in the agreement.

04. Keep the project conversation going.

Confirm how updates will be shared and who to contact with questions. Site access, work areas, cleanup and the final walkthrough are all worth discussing before construction starts.
